Manchester United are in desperate need of Premier League points to ensure their season does not end in bitter disappointment.
Erik ten Hag’s side were in sixth place in the table and eight points outside the top four with 10 games to go in 2023/24. With a title bid out of the question, UEFA Champions League qualification now feels paramount if they are to strengthen their team significantly for next season, and if manager Ten Hag wants to keep his job.
Their next match was due to be at home to struggling Sheffield United in what was set to be their last game before the March international break. However, due to the FA Cup quarterfinals, the meeting with the Blades was postponed.
The Sporting News has the latest on exactly why the game was moved, when it is likely to take place, and which other Premier League fixtures have been impacted by the domestic cup.

Manchester United’s game with Sheffield United was initially slated for 3 p.m. local time (11 a.m. ET) on Saturday, March 16, 2024. However, the match was postponed when Man United reached the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.
With the Red Devils no longer in Europe this season, it is likely this game will be moved to a midweek slot in April, although the Premier League has not yet confirmed a new date for the fixture.
The game was moved because of the FA Cup quarterfinals, which are being staged over the same weekend (March 16-17). Man United face Liverpool at Old Trafford on March 17.
Several Premier League matches were moved because of the FA Cup quarterfinals.
Arsenal’s huge London derby with Chelsea was postponed from its original March 16 date. The Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool, initially slated for March 17, has also been moved, as has Manchester City’s away game at Brighton & Hove Albion.
In total, six Premier League games on matchday 29 have been postponed because of FA Cup commitments.

Australia: Fans in Australia can stream every match live and on demand on Optus Sport.
India: Star Sports network has the rights to show Premier League matches in India. As well as an English broadcast on Star Sports Select, select matches will be available via regional feeds on Star Sports 3 (in Bengali, English, Kannada, Malayalam), Star Sports 1 (Bangla) and Star Sports 1 (Tamil).
