The Premier League’s 2023-24 season is heading towards the final stretch as Manchester City seeks a fourth-straight Premier League crown.

That’s never been done, and is no sure thing this season thanks to sublime seasons for Liverpool and Arsenal.
Liverpool had been top of the Premier League table for a while but Arsenal has stepped atop the table and lead on goal differential following a 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Man City at Anfield, with City a point behind the other two.
There’s a crowded field of top-four chasers and there isn’t much between these teams in a massive scrap for elbow room. City is definitely the club looming large with reputation and experience.
Here is a link to the Premier League table from the 2022-23 season, as Manchester City surged to a third-straight Premier League title after Arsenal led the way for most of the campaign.
Mikel Arteta and mentor Pep Guardiola know they can rival Jurgen Klopp for the crown. Liverpool have navigated just two defeats all season long and look to be the main contenders for City but Arsenal have kicked on too with eight-straight wins to start 2024 in style.
Aston Villa and Tottenham are still in the top four hunt with Manchester United lurking. West Ham have recovered well after a mid-season wobble and are pushing for European qualification, while Brighton and Newcastle United were in the top four hunt but schedule congestion and depth issues have hit hard. Both juggled European campaigns (and Brighton still have that to come in the early spring too) and that has sent them backwards on the table and they’re battling for a Europa League spot. Watch out for Wolves who could make a late charge for seventh.
New boys Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United are fighting to stay in the Premier League, while Nottingham Forest and Brentford look like they could be struggling with the former charged by the Premier League for breaching financial rules and the latter struggling badly with big injuries and hoping Ivan Toney can deliver goals. The rebuilds for both Manchester United and Chelsea are short of the top four and pressure is mounting on Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino respectively. Tottenham, again, look much further ahead and Ange Postecoglou has created one of Europe’s most exciting teams to watch and they’re pushing hard to finish fourth.
After being given a 10-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, Everton appealed and had it reduced to six. There is still the threat of a further points deduction due to another charge for breaching PSRs but Sean Dyche has the Toffees four points clear of the relegation zone. They haven’t won any of their last 11 games but they’ve climbed out of the drop zone and have some breathing space. Will they stay there? Can they avoid a first-ever relegation from the Premier League? Right now the Toffees are scrapping away but it feels like they’re treading water and the future sanctions hanging over them continue to cast a dark cloud over Goodison Park.
We’ll update the 2023-24 Premier League table in this space all season, as American fans sees which of their USMNT players can finish highest on the table amongst Matt Turner and Gio Reyna (Nottingham Forest), Auston Trusty (Sheffield United), Tyler Adams (yet to feature in the PL for Bournemouth due to ongoing hamstring issues) and both Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson of Fulham. Burnley’s Luca Koleosho is USMNT-eligible and represented the U.S. at the U-15 level but has since represented Italy at two youth levels and after a bright start to his first-ever Premier League campaign the teenager has suffered a serious knee injury.
