Peseiro Retains Defensive Tactics For Cameroon
Super Eagles boss Jose Peseiro said he’s unlikely to change his tactics for the round of 16 clash against Cameroon.

The Portuguese has favoured a defensive system since opening day disappointing draw against Equatorial Guinea and has been criticized for the decision.

With his newly adopted 3-4-3 formation, the Eagles edged past Ivory Coast and Guinea Bissau by single goal to qualify for the round of 16.

Speaking ahead of the game, Peseiro revealed that he won’t be changing his tactics for the Indomitable Lions.

“At least one goal, we’ll attack well and defend together, you do that and we win,” Peseiro said.

“I have studied many of the matches between both teams but tomorrow  (today) our objective is to win the match.

“I will try to stick with what I have been doing and hope our players start scoring more goals soon.

“The statistics say we are the team with the most goalscoring opportunities, and for that I cannot change my team or formation.”

Peseiro added that his wards are capable of getting positive result for Nigeria.

“It’s a difficult match. We are in the round of 16 and playing against a great team. We don’t want to concede, we want to score a goal and maintain our lead.

“We expect that history will not repeat itself at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny. Even if the statistics are not for us, we are going to play.

“It is a mission that has been entrusted to us and we are going to try to carry it out. We want to win; we want to stay in this tournament until the end.”
