The absolute state of some fans. Virtually everyone complaining about this decision hasn't taken the effort to read about it or think logically. To name a few salient points: 1) the rules are inherently unjust and aren't fit for purpose. They favour the already big clubs and shut out everyone else. 2) The commission found that Everton did NOT gain any sporting advantage, nor did they seek to. Their overspend came from stadium interest payments and losing a Russian sponsor. A literal war caused this. 3) Everton have been given a sporting punishment for a financial rule break. That in itself is perverse. Get a grip.

We finish our round-up of today's FA Cup news conferences with a line from Blackburn boss John Eustace on facing Newcastle: "Everyone's really excited about it, it's a real special night.
"We're playing against a fantastic team, one of best teams in the Premier League, so it's a real good chance for the lads to showcase themselves and hopefully do us proud.
"As long as we’re committed and give it our best, that’s all you can ask for. Hopefully we can win the game, of course, but there’s certainly no pressure on the boys to win, it’s about enjoying the evening and playing against top players.
"The FA Cup is a real special competition, Blackburn Rovers have won it six times, something we as a football club are very proud of, and it’s important we take the competition very seriously."

RE: Paul – Everton will make considerably more money in the upcoming seasons from the increased capacity at their stadium and sponsorship deals. Are you really suggesting that won't be spent on players and coaching staff? Of course it should be considered and the punishment is just!

To Paul G – of course, they gained an advantage by overspending. They bought Abdoulaye Doucoure with the money they shouldn’t have been spending and he kept them up as a result of scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win against Bournemouth and ended up surviving relegation by 2 points. If they hadn’t overspent, they’d be down.

"They're a very good team with a very good squad. We are going to face a tough opponent on Wednesday. Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo says he has the same squad of available players to choose from that lost 4-2 in Saturday's Premier League match at Aston Villa.
Nuno added that he would treat selection "game-by-game", with leaders Liverpool next up in the league this weekend.
"You cannot think what's coming up, you have to deal with situations in front of you," he said. "If you're concerned about what can happen, my idea doesn't make sense. We always look for the best."

Honestly, as a Forest fan, I'm just so over all of the uncertainty, unknowns and conjecture at this point. This season has basically been ruined by off-field drama for many clubs at the bottom. The Premier League is supposed to be the promised land for teams but unless you're a top-eight club it's just pretty depressing.

FFP point deductions should be purely linked to players costs, this would even up the entire league. Everton never deserved point deductions for ground expenditure & sponsors. Can I remind everyone, Everton had NO sporting advantage by breaching these rules, their net spend on players over the last five years is £21m, hence the struggle!

Moving on from the Bournemouth manager to Enzo Maresca, his opposite number at FA Cup fifth-round opponents Leicester.
Maresca has given some team news following the club's defeat at Championship title rivals Leeds on Friday: "Kasey [McAtee] had some problems. We don’t know if he can be available for tomorrow.
"Jamie [Vardy] is injured. They said to me, it could be one week, 10 days, maybe two weeks, and Wilf [Ndidi] is still injured.
"We'll go strong. But for sure we are going to make changes. We are going to make nine, 10, 11 changes. There are players who deserve their chances. We’re going to prepare the game the best we can to win the game.
"We just need to make our best and try to win the game."

I understand Luton fans' frustration. The way the process is handled is the problem though. The public announcement should be after any appeal and only made once a final decision has been reached. Everyone knows where they stand then.

Everton points deduction: BBC Sport’s Simon Stone says story not over just yet
BBC Sport's Simon Stone reflects that, for now, this is a good day for Everton, following the four-point reduction of their 10-point penalty, but leaves Burnley and Sheffield United in huge trouble:
"It has a big effect on the bottom of the table because it moves Everton up into 15th spot, above Brentford and leaves Luton four points away from safety. More importantly, underneath them, it leaves Burnley and Sheffield United in huge trouble – 13 points adrift. But it is not the end of the story yet."
