A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Victoria Amu, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the September 21 election in Edo State.
Amu, who served under former governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole, and current Governor Godwin Obaseki, resigned from the APC in May and said her next political move would be made public as soon as she decides where to go next.
In a message on Saturday, Amu told Sunday PUNCH that she decided to join the PDP due to lack of internal democracy in the APC, noting that she was ready to work with stakeholders in her new party to ensure the party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, emerge victorious at the poll.
She said that the decision to join the PDP was well thought out, expressing belief that her new political platform would help her realise her goal of positive change for her people in Owan federal constituency.
