Osun gov’s media aides accuse DSS of contempt of court

33views

Olawale Rasheed and Sarafa Ibrahim, two aides of the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, have instituted two separate suits seeking court protection against harassment and arrest by the Department of State Services or its agents.

Rasheed, the spokesperson for the Osun State governor, through his lawyer, J. Ayanyemi, had approached the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, to obtain a Notice of Caution Against Court Contempt, a sequel to the fresh invitation and alleged harassment by the DSS.

Rasheed and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media, Ibrahim, had urged the court to restrain the DSS from inviting, arresting or detaining them.

The defendants in the suits include the DSS, Director General, DSS, Osun State Director, DSS and Mr. Femi Oyetola.

In the notice of order enforcing fundamental rights, in the suit marked FHC/OS/CS/89/2024, dated April 25, 2024, a copy of which was obtained on Saturday, Rasheed said that despite the initial originating summons and court order restraining the first to third respondents from inviting, arresting or detaining him, the DSS, through its agents, were still harassing and threatening him from exercising his fundamental rights.

Ibrahim, in his suit numbered FHC/OS/CS/108/2024, accused the first to third defendants of attempting to violate his fundamental rights to personal liberty.

The plaintiffs urged the court to grant their reliefs so as not to allow the defendants to collaborate in trampling upon his rights or get at him unjustifiably.
