In its latest report YouTube disclosed that it removed over 2.25 million videos in India during the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2023 for violating its community guidelines. This figure represents the highest number of video removals among 30 nations for the period spanning October to December 2023, according to YouTube’s report. After India, Singapore (1,243,871) and the US (788,354) recorded the second and third-highest number of videos removed, respectively, while Iraq had the lowest number of videos removed at 41,176. Globally, YouTube removed a total of nine million videos during the same period, with an impressive 96 percent of videos being initially flagged by automated systems.
Mohalla Tech, the parent company of vernacular social media platform ShareChat and short video entertainment app Moj, has secured approximately $49 million in debt financing from its existing investors. According to regulatory filings with the RoC, as spotted by Inc42, the company has authorised the issuance of 4,895 Series I debentures at a price of $10,000 each, totaling $49 million. The debt round saw participation from existing investors such as Temasek, Lightspeed, HarbourVest, Moore Strategic, Rimco, and Alkeon.

Newly unsealed documents from a federal court in California have revealed that Meta-owned Facebook was monitoring users of social media rivals Snapchat, Google-owned YouTube and Amazon. Dubbed “Project Ghostbusters”, the initiative involved the Mark Zuckerberg-owned company intercepting and decrypting network traffic of Snapchat users, the media has reported.
