Pogacar takes yellow jersey as Vauquelin wins
Stage two: Cesenatico – Bologna, 199.2km
Steve Sutcliffe
Tadej Pogacar moved into the leader's yellow jersey as France's Kevin Vauquelin won stage two of the Tour de France.
Arkea-B&B Hotels' Vauquelin took his first Grand Tour stage win after breaking away from the front group, and is the second Frenchman to take a stage win in as many days.
You can read all about that in our report.
On Monday, the race travels 230.8km from Plaisance to Turin and I can think of at least one 34-time stage winner who will be looking forward to a route more suited to sprinters.
We'll see you at around 11:00 for that one.
1. Tadej Pogacar (Slo/UAE Team Emirates) 9hrs 53mins 30secs
2. Remco Evenepoel (Bel/Soudal-Quick-Step Same time
3. Jonas Vingegaard (Den/Visma-Lease a Bike) "
4. Richard Carapaz (Ecu/EF Education-EasyPost "
5. Romain Bardet (Fra/DSM-firmenich PostNL) +6secs
6. Maxim Van Gils (Bel/Lotto-Dstny +21secs
7. Egan Bernal (Col/Ineos Grenadiers) Same time
8. Pello Bilbao (Spa) Bahrain Victorious "
9. Tom Pidcock (GB/Ineos Grenadiers "
10. Giulio Ciccone (Ita/Lidl-Trek) "
A familiar sight. Tadej Pogacar will be in yellow this evening.
Did he even want it yet? Apparently that's based on accumulated results. Richard Carapaz probably thought he'd snaffled it when he launched that late sprint.
1. Kevin Vauquelin (Fra/Arkea-B&B Hotels) 4hrs 43mins 42secs
2. Jonas Abrahamsen (Nor/Uno-X Mobility) +36secs
3. Quentin Pacher (Fra/Groupama-FDJ) +49secs
4. Cristian Rodriguez (Spa/Arkea-B&B Hotels) Same time
5. Harold Tejada (Col/Astana-Qazaqstan) "
6. Nelson Oliveira (Por/Movistar) +50secs
7. Axel Laurance (Fra/Alpecin-Deceuninck) +1min 12secs
8. Mike Teunissen (Ned/Intermarche-Wanty)+1min 33secs
9. Hugo Houle (Can/Israel-Premier Tech +1mins 36secs
10. Richard Carapaz (Ecu/EF Education-EasyPost +2mins 21secs
Ineos Grenadiers trio Tom Pidcock, Carlos Rodriguez and Egan Bernal were also 21 seconds behind the Pogacar group.
Simon Yates and his brother Adam also came home at the same time.
That was a crazy final 12km or so. The Tour is the race that never disappoints.
The Romain Bardet group is maybe around 20 seconds back. The yellow jersey has gone for the French rider…
Remco Evenepoel and Richard Carapaz have indeed put the hammer down… they are going to catch the Tadej Pogacar group.
It's a huge shift and the Ecuadorian rider opens up a sprint for the line as Pogacar crosses in the same time.

The Frenchman rolls over the line well ahead of Jonas Abrahamsen.
Kevin Vaquelin is going to win stage two…
Is Remco Evenepoel on the attack? According to the official timekeepers he is just 12 seconds of Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, who have picked up Jordan Jegat.
Either Tadej Pogacar or Jonas Vingegaard will be in yellow this evening, unless something remarkable happens in the closing few kilometres.
Last year at the Giro dell'Emilia (around these parts), Primoz Roglic actually managed to edge Tadej Pogacar.
He is nowhere to be seen this year. He's been caught out massively on the San Luca climb and could be 40 seconds or so adrift of his fellow Slovenian and the defending champion Jonas Vingegaard at this rate.
Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard are working together and have grabbed a good 30 seconds or so on the riders who would hope to challenge in the GC.
Nobody else can follow the big two. Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard could take some serious time out of their GC rivals here.
Jonas Vingegaard is straight on his wheel. What a sight this is. What a race this is.
Tadej Pogacar attacks…
Egan Bernal and Tom Pidcock are in real trouble in the GC group.
Kevin Vaquelin has surely got the stage wrapped up…
He has 40 seconds…
Is the GC race kick off? Tadej Pogacar is on the wheel of Jonas Vingegaard….
Geraint Thomas is being dropped as Primoz Roglic tries to move up towards the front of the main bunch.
Adam Yates now takes charge of that group.
