Update: Instagram was starting to come back online after users across the world reported problems earlier on Thursday. At about 10:10 pm, the outage reporting site Downdetector had shown more than 150 users in India had reported problems with the app. The company did not disclose the reason for the outage.
Meta’s photo and video-sharing platform Instagram is witnessing an outage as reported by many users across the world. Several users took to Twitter and other social media platforms about posts not loading on Instagram’s Android and iOS apps.
Similarly, over 100 people have reported the same on DownDetector. Right now, it’s unclear what has caused the outage.
However, it seems the outage was witnessed by users from across the globe in varying proportions. While some users are unable to access Instagram for a short time, for some it seems to be working fine for others.
Just a few hours ago, Meta’s instant messaging platform WhatsApp also witnessed a disruption in its service, where, users were unable to send or receive messages across the platforms. However, the service was restored in a short time.

Last week, all major social media platforms owned by Meta including Instagram were down for hours. This is the third time that Instagram has witnessed an outage this year. In May, several users in the US reported that they faced issues while accessing the application. In March a similar situation was witnessed, nearly 27,000 users were unable to access the platform.
Meta has not acknowledged the outage and an official response is awaited from the tech giant.
