How to watch Champions League Final for FREE as Real Madrid face Borussia Dortmund – The Mirror
It looks set to be one of the most exciting Champions League finals in recent memory, but fans can watch Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid on the television for free
Football fans will be able to watch the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund for free.
On his return to Wembley Stadium, Jude Bellingham can finish a jaw-dropping debut season with Los Blancos by winning the big-eared European trophy. The 20-year-old Englishman, who has already won La Liga and contributed 23 goals and 12 assists in 41 matches, will be up against his former club on the hallowed turf of English football.
Meanwhile, Edin Terzic's side can exorcise their own demons having lost their last Champions League final at Wembley all the way back in 2013. Football fans can watch all of this drama unfold without paying a penny. TNT Sports will be broadcasting the match on Discovery+ instead of YouTube this year.
Usually, all matches in European club competitions require a subscription to be able to tune in. For the showpiece finale, which will be taking place at Wembley on Saturday night at 8pm, fans will be able to access live streams of the game on the Discovery+ app by registering for a free account to tune in to the stream.
The Europa League and Europa Conference League finals were also broadcast to fans in this fashion. Premium subscribers will be able to access the full build-up of the final between the German and Spanish giants.
The accessibility of the final comes in spite of the UK government not classing the Champions League final as a protected event on their "crown jewel" list of events that have to be broadcast on free-to-air television. TNT Sports have offered a free feed on European club competition finals ever since they bought the rights to broadcast the European competitions in the 2014/15 season.
This year, the free coverage has been moved from YouTube to Discovery+. It will also be the last match of TNT's current broadcast deal with UEFA, as they will be sharing the rights with Amazon next season.
Matches in the European competition have been broadcast on TNT Sport and Discovery+, while highlights of individual matches have been shown on their YouTube channel. ITV also broadcast their own highlights show later on in the evening.
Bellingham has the opportunity to roar into Euro 2024 as a La Liga and Champions League winner. He is already in contention to win the Ballon d'Or for his awe-inspiring performances for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season.
Should Real prevail over the Bundesliga giants, the former Birmingham City captain will become the first Englishman to win the Champions League with Real Madrid since Steve McManaman. However, Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho also has the opportunity to silence many doubters.
He began the campaign by falling out with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag and being banished from the team. Ever since he was loaned to Dortmund in January, Sancho has turned his campaign around and now looks set to start in the biggest match in European football.
