The Football News Show: Why Manchester City tie is about revenge for Real Madrid
Real Madrid suffered one of their heaviest European defeats when they lost 4-0 to Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final second leg in 2023.
BBC World Service's John Bennett tells The Football News Show why that night remains a motivation for Carlo Ancelotti's side as they meet at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday with their quarter-final tantalisingly poised a 3-3 from the first leg.

Man City v Real Madrid (3-3 agg, 20:00 BST)
Manchester City will be boosted by the return of defender Kyle Walker, who has been sidelined since sustaining a hamstring injury on England duty last month.
"He [Walker] has had one or two training sessions," said manager Pep Guardiola. "He feels good with his mood. I don't know if [he will play] from the beginning, or from the bench, but he will be with us tomorrow.
"It is incredible good news for many reasons. He is our captain and in last year's matches played against players like Vinicius, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe and he knows how to defend them like nobody else."
Midfielder Kevin de Bruyne is also expected to return after pulling out of the starting 11 just before the first leg kicked off at the Bernabeu last week.
Nathan Ake did not travel to Madrid last week but was back in the squad for City's 5-1 win over Luton Town on Saturday.
Real remain without Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba, who are recovering from anterior cruciate ligament injuries, while French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni misses out having accumulated three yellow cards in Europe this season.
Man City v Real Madrid (3-3 agg, 20:00 BST)
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva says winning the Treble for a second consecutive year is an "inspiration and motivation".
City won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup last season and are on track to repeat the achievement.
They face Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final tonight following a 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu last week.
"We want to create the legacy. We want two Trebles in a row," said Silva.
"We want four Premier Leagues in a row. We want the Champions League twice in a row. If we win two Trebles in a row that would be legacy.
"[But] in one week we could be out of all the competitions. But we are fighting."

Before we leave you, let's look forward to tonight's huge Champions League games…
West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen (0-2 agg, Thu, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham manager David Moyes on whether the Bayer Leverkusen result has an effect on his future at the club: "I don't think so at all. It's not got a bearing on my decision. Let's be fair, it wasn't too long ago we were talking about trying to avoid relegation."
West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen (0-2 agg, Thu, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham manager David Moyes on whether fluctuating success gives them an advantage as opposed to Bayer Leverkusen's 42-game unbeaten streak: "Maybe West Ham are a different sort of club. This place has never been smooth at any time. It's a club that has bobbed up and down. It's probably been at its highest standing for a long time. No one is coming here to have a smooth time, it's a club that has been up and down with relegation, but it's never been in Europe three seasons in a row and we want to make it four.
West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen (0-2 agg, Thu, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham manager David Moyes on the second leg: "You never know how those games are going to go. We did a good job on them in the first leg but it was still not enough. We tried very hard last week and we will try very hard tomorrow."
West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen (0-2 agg, Thu, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham manager David Moyes on facing Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen: "It's fantastic they won the league and they should celebrate something like that. Let's hope that they have a few of those big German beers."
West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen (0-2 agg, Thu, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham manager David Moyes on who could be the hero: "I think the European games, quite often substitutes make the difference or someone scores the goal to make the difference. Pablo Fornals scored the goal in Alkmaar to get us to the final so anyone can do so."
West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen (0-2 agg, Thu, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham manager David Moyes on whether he feels under pressure: "Not at all. We've had some ups and some downs but in general, it's been a very good season."
West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen (0-2 agg, Thu, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham manager David Moyes on the game: "It was a huge game against Leverkusen last week and we've got another huge game on Thursday evening. When you get to quarter-finals and semi-finals, it is exciting. We'd obviously love to get to the final but we have to go through the processes of getting there."
West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen (0-2 agg, Thu, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham manager David Moyes on team news: "It was great to see Jarrod [Bowen] out there, first time we had him back, not sure about him. Great to have Kalvin [Phillips] back, but not sure about him either, Alphonse [Areola] was back but not sure about him either.
"We'd never risk any players if they had chance of another injury. Player welfare is a big thing. I do want goalscorers back there and Jarrod has been our best goalscorer."
West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen (0-2 agg, Thu, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
OK, we will leave Lukasz Fabianski there and focus on West Ham manager David Moyes, who is speaking now.
Let's hear what he has to say…
West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen (0-2 agg, Thu, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski celebrates his 39th birthday on Thursday and was asked whether he expects to have many more chances to compete in Europe: "I am obviously getting older but at the same time I feel really good physically and mentally so I believe that I am, in general, in really good shape and in a really good place when it comes to the team. So hopefully there will be a few more special occasions in my career."
West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen (0-2 agg, Thu, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
More from West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski on Jarrod Bowen's return to training: "I was pleased and I believe all my team-mates were pleased to see Jarrod out there on the pitch training with us. I think it's almost the same situation with every single player that we have. We want to have as big a group as we can because we have really good players within the team and within the squad so while Jarrod is obviously a really important player for us we will see how it goes tomorrow but hopefully he will be able to help us as well."
