Some other gossip not in today's column from the Daily Telegraph, external who report that Manchester United players have "held one-on-one meetings with Sir Dave Brailsford to find out the Ineos vision to restore the club to its former glory".
The paper adds: "Brailsford has met most of United’s first-team squad to present his and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos master plan and take observations and questions from players.
"With Omar Berrada joining as chief executive and approaches made for Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox to take on sporting director and technical director roles, players have been briefed on a range of topics and issues.
"The one-on-one talks, which have also taken place with staff members, are not linked to the future of manager Erik ten Hag and are said to have impressed players and left them feeling optimistic over the future with Ineos now in charge of football operations."

Earlier this week on BBC Radio 5 Live the Monday Night Club discussed why Ruben Amorim could be the favourite to be Liverpool's next boss.
"He's done a great job for Sporting, winning their first title in 19 years," says New York Times journalist Rory Smith. "He did it with a great squad, but then managed to rebuild the team after some players were sold and he looks like the might repeat it this season.
"I think Liverpool wanted Xabi Alonso but they knew for a while it wouldn't be the case. All the noise is that Amorim is now the front runner."

The Daily Telegraph
Finally from today's review of the papers, the lead story on the front of the Daily Telegraph's sport section focuses on Liverpool's search for Jurgen Klopp's replacement.
"The chances of Roberto De Zerbi becoming the next Liverpool manager have receded with the Italian not currently considered a leading candidate," the paper reports.
The hunt to find Klopp’s successor "remains fluid, and De Zerbi has certainly not been completely ruled out" the story adds but the "Brighton head coach is not the focus of Liverpool’s search at present".

Son Heung-min is a fantastic player and had delivered another strong season for Spurs against West Ham, but I still firmly believe this Spurs side would have more points on the board with a different captain. Captain quality is not simply picking the player with the highest profile/you fear losing in a transfer.

Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham, meanwhile, are "in discussions with prospective investors" in a bid to "capitalise on our long-term potential", according to chairman Daniel Levy.
Spurs' total revenue for the financial year to 30 June, 2023 exceeded half a billion pounds for the first time, with the figure of £549.6million a significant increase on £444m for the previous year.
However, operating expenses including first-team costs have risen by 21% to £487.9m, with a loss of £86.8m put down to "significant and continued investment in the playing squad" in the financial results published by the Premier League club this morning.
Levy said in his statement accompanying the results that Spurs were looking for an injection of equity.
He wrote: "To capitalise on our long-term potential, to continue to invest in the teams and undertake future capital projects, the club requires a significant increase in its equity base.
"The board and its advisors, Rothschild & Co, are in discussions with prospective investors. Any recommended investment proposal would require the support of the club's shareholders."

As a Villa fan, all this coverage about Erling Haaland makes me nervous. Practically guarantees a hat-trick for him tonight.

The Times
Meanwhile, The Times put an action shot of Kurt Zouma's equaliser for West Ham against Tottenham as the main image on their back page but the lead story relates to Brighton's finances.
The paper reports the £122.8m made by the Seagulls last season was "thanks in large part to the sale of players such as Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool and Marc Cucurella to Chelsea" but the story notes that "even without income from transfers Brighton were still in the black in a year when many of their Premier League rivals made heavy losses".

West Ham should have won comfortably but the James Ward-Prowse free-kick was well saved, Michail Antonio is terrible in one-v-one situations, and we generally lacked a cutting edge. Spurs nothing special despite not being involved in cups this season.

Spurs had the possession stats but the Hammers the better chances. Both teams aggressively sought the ball but both lacked efficiency in front of goal. Michail Antonio wasted two excellent chances while Spurs over complex play in the final third let them down. A draw was the right result in the end. Frustrating, but fair.

Disappointed that Pep Guardiola rose to Roy Keane's mind games. His feud with the Haaland family has been going on for years! Not sure of his motivation though, does he actually want to hand the title to Liverpool?

Everton manager Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC MOTD:
"More of an edge to it. We were disappointed on Saturday, performance was a bit flat. Tonight was a really good performance, particularly in the second half. We finally found a penalty, we don't get many. They got the right decision and we scored."
On Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring: "He has been working hard and getting in the right areas. He strikes it well enough to go in and I am pleased for him and the group."
On it being 13 games without a win and whether it is a good point:"This job wasn't a walk in the park when I got it and it is still not, there is a long way to go but there are a lot of steps we are making in the right direction.
"I know we are capable of getting wins and results, we haven't scored as many as we would like but the mentality is right and certainly right tonight."

The Daily Star
The Daily Star lead their back page on Pep Guardiola's response to Roy Keane with a 'Roybbish' pun in their headline while Dominic Calvert-Lewin's late equaliser for Everton also gets a good showing.
Calvert-Lewin "rescued a point" for Everton which "boosts their survival hopes". However, the paper notes that the "Toffees set a new club record" with their "winless run in the Premier League" after 13 games without a victory.
Paul at 07:32 forgets Everton potentially have another points deduction coming – probably five or six points knowing the Premier League. As an Evertonian, I’d say Luton have better odds of staying up than we do.
