English Premier League table 2023/24: Updated EPL standings as Arsenal beat Tottenham but Man City close gap – Sporting News
Arsenal opened up a three-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a 5-0 thrashing of Chelsea at Emirates Stadium, and their advantage stood at four points following a 3-2 victory over north London rivals Tottenham.
Leandro Trossard scored in the fourth minute for Arsenal before defender Ben White and former Chelsea forward Kai Havertz each scored twice in a second-half rout over the Blues. Havertz was again a key performer against Spurs, scoring one and assisting another as Mikel Arteta’s side held out against a late rally from their opponents.
Liverpool tumbled to a 2-0 defeat against Everton at a raucous Goodison Park, and the Reds followed up that loss with a 2-2 draw at West Ham that looks likely to have ended their title hopes.
Defending champions Man City were four points back with two games in hand entering their match against Brighton, but they emphatically got the job done with Phil Foden inspiring them to a 4-0 win to move back to within one of the top. On Sunday, a 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest saw the close to within a point of the Gunners again and keep the title race in their hands.
Sheffield United’s relegation was confirmed as they lost 5-1 to Newcastle United, but Burnley boosted their survival hopes by snatching a draw away to Manchester United. Everton and Brentford are both safe.
Aston Villa took a 2-0 lead over Chelsea but were eventually pegged back for a 2-2 draw, dealing some damage to their bid to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The Sporting News will update the table below and break down each of the key races throughout the 2023/24 season.

The big news in 2023/24 is that there’s a scenario in which the Premier League could see the top five teams all qualify for the UEFA Champions League if England finishes as one of the top two performing nations in European club cup competitions.
If the FA Cup winner or Carabao Cup winner finish in the top four, the European cup berth that accompanies that title would go to the next team in the Premier League standings not already qualified for Europe.
