Nottingham Forest release furious statement and make Premier League threat after Everton loss – The Mirror

Forest were livid after they saw three penalty appeals turned down in their 2-0 defeat to Everton at Goddison Park on Sunday afternoon
Nottingham Forest have released a stinging statement questioning the integrity of the Premier League after they feel they were denied three penalties against Everton.
The club remarkably claim that VAR Stuart Attwell, who was working on the game, is a fan of relegation rivals Luton Town.
Forest said: "Three extremely poor decisions – three penalties not given – which we simply cannot accept. We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options."
Forest were left fuming when Everton's Ashley Young escaped three times without giving away a penalty after he caught Gio Reyna, handled in the area and then challenged Callum Hudson-Odoi either side of half-time.
Blues defender James Tarkowski also avoided giving away a penalty when he handled in the box, with referee Anthony Taylor refusing to point to the spot on each occasion.
Forest lost the match 2-0 at Goodison Park as goals from Idrissa Gana Gueye and Dwight McNeil saw Everton open up a four point gap on their beaten opponents, who sit in 17th place in the table, one point above Luton.
Working as a pundit for Sky Sports on match, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher couldn't believe Forest's actions. Carragher said: "It tells you where we are in the Premier League now, with the clubs.
"Stuart Attwell and Anthony Taylor have had a horrific day today, awful, and they should be rightly criticised for that. That could have real implications for Nottingham Forest, I get the frustrations.
"But that, what I've just read there on social media, that's like a fan in a pub. That is embarrassing for Nottingham Forest. I get the frustrations, but that rubbish about the VAR is a Luton fan? You can't get involved in that. You've got to show a little bit of class if you are a football club. I get it, the frustration, the officials have had an awful day, terrible. But you can't get involved in that. It's nonsense!"
