The Premier League have announced the schedule for the final fixtures of the season after they were postponed due to Manchester United and Manchester City playing in the FA Cup
Tottenham supporters have suggested that their side could decide Arsenal’s fate in the Premier League title race after the schedule for the final fixtures was confirmed.
Arsenal are chasing a first Premier League title in 20 years and sit top of the table with seven matches remaining. Mikel Arteta’s side are ahead of Liverpool on goal difference and one point above defending champions Manchester City, setting up a hugely exciting run-in over the next month.
Supporters have been eagerly anticipating the announcement of the scheduling for the final few weeks of the season, which has been delayed by City and Manchester United’s participation in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. They have now been released by the Premier League and Arsenal supporters may be concerned by City’s potentially crucial game at Spurs.
The match has been slated for Tuesday, May 13 at 8pm at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It will fall in between Spurs’ games against Burnley and Sheffield United – prompting suggestions from fans that Ange Postecoglou’s side could beat the two relegation-threatened sides while losing to City, to perhaps stop Arsenal winning the title.
Replying to Tottenham’s tweet about the fixture change, one fan joked: “Absolutely love this from the club, great to give the U12s a chance to play in our stadium under the lights, they will be buzzing.” Another wrote: “62k City fans that night”. One added: “Not a bad night for an accidental 12-0 loss”.
Other Spurs fans joked about getting into the spirit of things as new City supporters. “Blue Moon and all that,” one wrote. “Let’s do the Poznan when City go 1-0 up,” another wrote. Another sarcastically wrote: “Between the games against Sheffield United and Burnley. Guess what games we’ll win.”
The other postponed game will see Manchester United host Newcastle at Old Trafford on Wednesday, May 15, ahead of the final weekend of the season on Sunday, May 19. It will be shown live on Sky Sports.
