West Ham vs Tottenham prediction, odds, expert football betting tips and best bets for Premier League match – Sporting News
Tottenham continue the push for Champions League football as they travel across London to take on West Ham in a midweek Premier League kickoff.
Spurs sit fifth in the league standings, which appears likely to be good enough to qualify for Europe’s top competition next season in the new reorganisation of the competition.
With Manchester United floundering eight points below them, it looks likely that fifth is the floor for Spurs this year. Still, there’s the chance England could be lept by Germany or France in the race for a fifth Champions League place, which would leave Tottenham on the outside looking in unless they catch fourth-place Aston Villa sitting three points above.

West Ham are seventh, which at this point appears very likely to secure European football as well, but they are in a bitter race for the spot. They sit four points back of Manchester United, but have four clubs within four points of themselves as well, meaning the Hammers are looking over their shoulders more than they are in front of them.
This season’s European journey remains a priority for West Ham as well, but they face a daunting matchup against Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen, the only unbeaten team remaining in Europe’s ‘Big Five’ European leagues, in the Europa League quarterfinals.

While Spurs are highly prone to fluky results, such as the awful 3-0 defeat to Fulham or 2-1 loss to Wolves in their last five matches, they are in generally better form than West Ham, who see themselves with just two Premier League victories in 2024, and three overall across all competitions.
Tottenham have the firepower necessary to see through a shootout in this match, especially with West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez suspended due to yellow card accumulation. The Hammers were battered against Newcastle last time out in the Mexican international’s absence, seeing a 3-1 lead erased in the final 10 minutes en route to a seismic 4-3 defeat.
Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola was injured in that match as well, so Lukasz Fabianski will have to deputise after he was part of the egregious collapse over the weekend.
With the goal values so juiced in this matchup, and the 3.5 goal total a high bar to clear for slightly minus odds, we’ve instead built this two-legged parlay that feels as if it has an excellent chance to come through.
In the last 27 competitive meetings, these two teams have drawn just four times. Tottenham are especially draw-averse this season, having done so just five times in league play, joint-fewest in the Premier League, without one since finishing all square against Everton in early February.
As one of the most chaotic teams in England this season, Spurs have seen both teams score in 17 of their last 22 matches across all competitions, and in every one they didn’t, something fluky happened — whether it be Spurs finishing without a goal on 2.76 xG against Fulham just two weeks ago, or Aston Villa playing down a man for 30 minutes, or Nottingham Forest having a shocker in front of goal back in mid-December.
As stated before, Spurs are one of the most chaotic teams in the Premier League. They have the propensity to cough up leads, and to snatch wins from seemingly adverse results.
Just last time out, it took two second-half goals from Tottenham to turn around a one-goal deficit to Luton Town at home after conceding just three minutes into the game. West Ham, meanwhile, did exactly that to Spurs back in their last meeting in early December, with Cristian Romero’s 11th minute goal only undone by a pair of second-half strikes from the Hammers.
