Archbishop Kwofie made the call at a recent ceremony to commission the new Immaculate Heart of Mary Clinic in Korluedor in Accra, Ghana.
“The Catholic Church teaches that the right to life is from conception until birth, and whatever situation we are in, from conception to birth, the right to life must be protected,” said Archbishop Kwofie. He explained that since life is a gift from God, the Church would always endeavour to invest resources to protect life.
Archbishop Kwofie urged health professionals working at the new clinic to emulate the efforts of the Church and to follow Christian values in discharging their responsibilities to patients.
The Archbishop tasked the staff of the new clinic to protect and maintain the facility, as they would their own properties. He urged the administrators to ensure that the clinic is adequately equipped and readily accessible, especially to the poor. “It should serve as a real resource for those who need help,” Archbishop Kwofie added.
The Parish Priest of St. Mary Catholic Church, Fr. George Mensah expressed appreciation on behalf of the Church to International Help of Missionaries, IHM, the organisation responsible for funding the new clinic. He also commended the tireless efforts of Fr. Cletus Forson, one of the board members of IHM, who was instrumental in establishing the facility.
