Premier League relegation: AI predicts who's going down after Nottingham Forest points deduction – The Mirror
Nottingham Forest have been deducted four points by the Premier League after breaching profit and sustainability rules, placing them in the relegation zone and pushing Luton Town up a place into 17th
Nottingham Forest have been deducted four points by the Premier League for breaking profit and sustainability rules – and now find themselves on course for relegation, according to AI.
The East Midlands side today learnt that they were being docked points for breaking the permitted limit of losses across a three-year cycle. And that leaves Nuno Espirito Santo’s team facing a daunting battle to preserve their top-flight status.
Their deduction follows Everton's punishment for a breach of the same regulations. The Goodison Park club were initially stripped of 10 points but had four of those reinstated last month following an appeal. But Sean Dyche’s team are now four points clear of Forest, who have fallen behind Luton Town and into 18th place, though the Merseyside club could still face an additional punishment in the coming weeks. Everton also have a game in hand.
Forest have won one of their past nine games and drew 1-1 away to Luton on Saturday afternoon. They face mid-table sides Crystal Palace and Fulham after the international break.
Forest have now fallen into the bottom three with 21 points, while Luton move up to 17th, with an extra point to their name.
Our sister paper, Daily Star, asked ChatGPT who it thinks will be relegated this season following the points deduction. The AI predicts that Forest, Burnley and Sheffield United will be the teams to drop down to the Championship.
ChatGPT thinks Forest will finish 18th due to their points deduction. When asked, the program explained: "They have 25 points after 29 games, but with the deduction, they effectively have 21 points. With 9 games remaining, they might earn around 5-6 more points, finishing with around 26-27 points."
The AI also predicts Burnley will end up in 19th place, finishing on 22 or 23 points. It's not good news for fans of Sheffield United either, who have had a tough season back in the top flight.
ChatGPT said about the Blades: "They have 14 points after 28 games, which gives them an average of approximately 0.50 points per game. With 10 games remaining, we might estimate they could earn around 5 more points, finishing with around 19 points."
On Everton, who are at risk of a second points deduction before the end of the season, AI stated: "Everton currently has 25 points after 28 games. Without any deduction or other issues, they would be in a precarious position but not in the relegation zone. However, their position is affected by Nottingham Forest's point deduction, which brings Forest to 21 points.
"With 10 games remaining, we can estimate Everton might earn around 9 more points, finishing with around 34 points. So, based on this estimation, Everton would likely be safe from relegation."
The only problem with ChatGpt's suggestion? It completely overlooked Luton, despite the precarious position of Rob Edwards' men.
Perhaps it's just ultra confident about their survival skils?
