It is a season of music awards events in Nigeria – The 2010 edition Soundcity Music Video Awards took place last week and the MTV Africa Music Awards is landing in Lagos in a few days. On the 28th of November 2010, the Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA) took place at the New Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel & Suites; This is the fourth edition of the NMVAs and according to organizers, the NMVAs is considered as one of the music video awards pioneers in Nigeria.
At this year’s event, Chairman of Silverbird Group – Ben Murray Bruce was inducted into the NMVA Hall of Fame and musical acts including Sound Sultan, 2Face, DIPP, Djinee and J Martins won awards at the event. The big winners of the night were Clarence Peters who won two awards for Best Editing and Best Director, the Kennis Music Team and upcoming artiste DIPP also had cause to celebrate as they also won multiple awards at the NMVAs.
