Arsenal look to keep the pressure on Man City in the Premier League title race as they visit Turf Moor for a Saturday match against newly-promoted club Burnley.
The Gunners sit third in the table, level with Man City on points and two off of Liverpool at the top, but Pep Guardiola’s side hold a game in hand on both challengers, thus controlling their destiny.
Mikel Arteta has led a strong turnaround since the upset defeat to Fulham on New Year’s Eve, unbeaten in four Premier League matches in 2024 and looking for more as they get set to begin Champions League play the following week.

Vincent Kompany’s side has not won since before Christmas, a run of seven matches across all competitions without victory. Even still, that 2-0 win over Fulham is one of just two total wins in 19 games, following a strong start to the campaign. They sit 19th in the table, and are quickly becoming more and more likely to fall back down to the Championship, a full seven points from safety and climbing.

Unfortunately for Burnley, there’s little to breathe confidence into an upset at Turf Moor in this match against a title contender.
Burnley did manage eight shots in the reverse fixture at the Emirates, but those were only worth 0.32 xG as they desperately ripped off efforts from a long way out. Only half of their eight shots came from inside the penalty area, and only one of those was within the six-yard box.
It’s plausible that Burnley could keep it close at home, as they’ve been subjected to some deadly opposition finishing at Turf Moor that betrays a bit of their ability to defend at home, but it’s hard to imagine anything other than three points for Arsenal ahead of the start of the their Champions League knockout stage journey in Portugal on Wednesday.

While Arsenal could theoretically be caught in this road trip as their eyes wander to the start of Champions League play, the reality is they are far better than their opposition on both ends of pitch and should prove as much here. They pummeled Burnley in the reverse fixture across both halves, finding goals on either end of the break while mostly keeping a lid on things at the back.
The Gunners should dominate the first half, and while they will need to take their chances and shake any possible finishing woes in the likely absence of injured Gabriel Jesus, there will be opportunities to assert their dominance.
Arsenal centre-back Gabriel has come to life in the second half of the season, providing an attacking threat up front in addition to his exceptional defensive contributions, and he should at the very least be in position to strike up front as Mikel Arteta devises a situation for him to get into dangerous areas.
All four of Gabriel’s goals this season have been scored in the last seven Premier League matches, and all four have come via the header. Burnley, meanwhile, are horrific at defending set-pieces, conceding 73 shots and 12 goals from set pieces this Premier League season.
