Premier League top goal scorers 2023/2024: Updated EPL golden boot rankings as Erling Haaland leads Mohamed … – Sporting News

After setting a new single-season Premier League goals record (36 goals) en route to the Golden Boot award in 2022/23, Manchester City star Erling Haaland came out of the gates strong once again.
After 15 appearances, Haaland was comfortably the leader in the 2023/24 Golden Boot race, with 14 goals. However, after suffering a foot injury during City’s 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa in December, he did not play again until he made a substitute appearance in the 3-1 win over Burnley on January 31.
Mohamed Salah is right back on Haaland’s tail, however, his goal against Brentford taking him to 15 as he made a timely return from injury and Africa Cup of Nations duty.
In-form Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke is just one goal back, having edged ahead of Tottenham star Son Heung-min, who has only recently returned from international duty with South Korea at the Asian Cup.
It certainly feels like this season’s battle to finish as the division’s leading goalscorer will be closer than it was a year ago, although Haaland’s brilliant brace to down Everton 2-0 on February 10 put him out in front once more.
The Sporting News will update the top scorers’ table below, with assists and minutes played serving as the first and second tiebreakers as per major European tournaments run by UEFA.

Manchester City star Erling Haaland won the 2022/23 Premier League Golden Boot with a new Premier League single-season record of 36 goals.
The City striker had built an insurmountable lead over Harry Kane (30 goals), who previously won the Golden Boot three times. Brentford’s Ivan Toney was the other to hit the 20-goal mark, while the previous season’s joint-top scorer Mohamed Salah slowly rose up the ranks to fourth.
There were 1,084 total goals scored in the Premier League in 2022/23, including 45 own goals.
It came down to the final day of the 2021/22 season between Tottenham’s Son Heung-min and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
Son’s two goals at Norwich City on the final day allowed him to momentarily move ahead of Salah in the scoring table. But the Liverpool star came off the bench and netted late to catch Son, as the two stars shared the Golden Boot on 23 goals.
