Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi is on the verge of returning to action for Nottingham Forest after a spell on the sidelines.
Awoniyi had made a positive start to the season for Forest, contributing four goals and two assists in his first ten Premier League appearances.
However, the Forward suffered several setbacks, and in the last six weeks has been on the recuperating after he was on the treatment table for a thigh injury that also kept him out of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
Nottingham Forest coach Espirito Santo confirmed that Awoniyi is back in training, indicating his imminent return to the squad.
Reports suggest that the Forward was expected to feature in Nottingham Forest’s recent game against Bristol City but was not deemed fit enough to make the squad.
However, there are indications that he could be included in the squad for the upcoming match against Arsenal at the City Ground on Tuesday.
If Awoniyi returns to action as expected, it will be a welcome development for Nottingham Forest as they aim to maintain their momentum in the Premier League since the appointment of new manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
