Naija News earlier reported that the entertainment industry was thrown into mourning, following the death of Peteru, who is a household name in comedy circles due to his unique delivery in mimicking people.
Nollywood actor, Muyiwa Ademola, while mourning the deceased on his social media page said he died as a result of colon cancer.
In a statement shared online, the family while describing the death as a huge loss said Peteru died in the early hours of Thursday, December 22, 2022.
Although the cause of the death was not disclosed, the late comedian’s family urged the general public to pray for them adding that details of the burial will be communicated to the public.
The statement reads: “Thy will be done. The Owomoyela family regrets to announce the death of Oluwatobi ‘Peteru’ Owomoyela who until his death was a loving son, father, husband, brother, uncle, and comedian extraordinaire.
“Peteru died in the early hours of Thursday, 22nd December 2022. The entire family is devastated and all we can ask at this time is for the public to kindly allow the family to grieve and mourn this huge loss. Burial details will be communicated to the public n due course while we request that you put the Owomoyela family in your prayers.”
