Vibranium Valley, U.S. partner on tech city development – Guardian Nigeria

United States of America’s Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, Wally Adeyemo, said Nigeria has so much potential, hence the U.S. intends to partner with the Nigerian government to remove certain barriers to Nigerian investors’ ability to access the U.S. market.
Adeyemo disclosed this at a press briefing during his visit to the Vibranium Valley Tech City in Lagos.
According to him: “I am excited to be here today because it has given me a chance to see Nigeria and innovation at its best and to see the innovative companies that are being built here and I agree with you there’s so much potential here in Nigeria.”
Besides, the General Manager, Vibranium Valley, Ms Moyosore Asubiojo, explained that the company engaged in a roundtable discussion with Adeyemo covering several topics, including the untapped opportunities in the technology, finance and venture capital spaces in Africa and the profound impact of the valley ecosystem.
Asubiojo said Vibranium Valley is just like the Silicon Valley of Nigeria, a tech city that provides infrastructure to high-growth companies and innovators. These include access to capital, technology and entrepreneurship-based infrastructure to technology-based companies within Nigeria or those looking to access the market.
According to her, the Valley’s 2,600 square meter tech campus incubates some of the best tech startups in Africa.
She said that Vibranium Valley has powered over 80 companies across the ecosystem of its anchor residents – Venture Garden Group and GreenHouse Capital (GHC), with over 440 people/ staff calling us home.
Asubiojo said that Venture Garden Group, established in 2011, is a holding company for financial technology (fintech) companies that provide innovative, data-driven end-to-end technology platforms aimed at solving national-scale problems.
She noted that these tech companies resident in the “valley” focus on various sectors such as the Power Sector, Aviation, Education, Remittance and Fintech sectors to name a few.
“What we do here is to incubate lots of tech companies, and we look for ways to use technology to solve key national scale problems in Nigeria, Africa and globally,” she said.
Asubiojo said that apart from enabling tech companies, Venture Garden Group is also interested in empowering the next generation – youths, through its VGN Foundation.
When asked about the relationship with the US Consulate and The American Corner, she said the company is in partnership with the Consulate, evidence of that is the American Corner resident at Vibranium Valley Tech City.
