Wizkid misses out as Asake dominates YouTube Nigeria's top music videos of 2022 – Technext
Afrobeats superstar Wizkid was missing on the list of top trending music videos in 2022 as YouTube released its end-of-year top lists last week.
In a statement seen by technext, the video streaming platform ranked the top trending videos, music videos, shorts, and creators in Nigeria. The Top Trending Videos list is based on a range of factors – beyond just views – that indicate how “trending” a video really is.
YouTube also announced that YouTube Shorts are being watched by over 1.5B logged-in users every month and averaging over 30 billion daily views. The company also announced that YouTube paid more than 50 Billion (USD) to creators, artists, and media companies in the 3 years before June 2022.
More than two million people participate in YouTube’s partnerships program around the world. YouTube’s subscription services, YouTube Premium and YouTube Music, now have more than 80 million users, including trailers, around the world.

This song, which features Mavin’s in-house artists including Crayon, Ayra Starr, LadiPoe, Magixx, and Spyce, was a significant hit for one of Nigeria’s most fantastic music record labels. On YouTube, the music video currently has over 40 million views, counting from 6 months ago when it was uploaded. It also has over 310,000 likes and 8,000 comments. The delicate beats blended beautifully with each artist’s personality, style, and tone. The hit song was produced by the boss himself, Don Jazzy.

The music video has received over 257 million views on YouTube, calculating the time since its upload nine months ago. In addition, it has 33,000 comments and more than 2.2 million likes. Andre Vibez produced the song, and Director K shot the music video.

Even before the music video was made, the song had already seen tremendous success. The African carnival-themed video was released five months ago and currently has 97 million views with over 760,000 likes and 27,000 comments.
Asake is probably the most-talked-about artist of 2022 and developed a afro-fuji music is enjoyed by millions of Nigerians and music lovers across the world. The music video, which was uploaded on YouTube 9 months ago has been viewed more than 23 million views, with over 143,000 likes and 3,800 comments.

The street musician was already making waves with his hit songs before this collaboration with the African giant Burna Boy. The remix of Sungba seems to have gotten lots of attention, and it is very obvious in its music video views.
The music video, which was uploaded on YouTube 8 months ago, currently has 32 million views, with over 224,000 likes and 5,600 comments. Like Omo Ope, Magic Sticks was on this one again and captures the brilliant Lagos big boy’s nightlife.
This is one of the African giant’s biggest hits in 2022. The song gained international traction, owing to the numerous amusing content that surfaced online about one of its phrases, “Igbo and Shayo.” The song was produced by Chopstix and the music video which has recorded 125 million views on YouTube was directed by Burna boy himself.
This song is another banger starting from the beats and instrumentals to the flow of the music. The song was a remix collaboration between Skiibii and OBO himself, Davido and it was well welcomed by the audience.
The music video, directed by Kemz was uploaded on YouTube 10 months ago and currently has 19 million views, with over 162,000 likes and 3,700 comments.

A collaboration between YBNL’s youngsters was sure to be a hit and it did not disappoint. While topping the Spotify Wrapped of many users, the music video, which was uploaded on YouTube 3 months ago, currently has more than 36 million views, with over 328,000 likes and 11,500 comments.
The music video was directed and shot by Nigerian music video director and cinematographer TG Omori a.k.a Boy Director, who has been a revelation on the music video scene in recent months.
The song, Peace Be Unto You really made a statement to establish Asake as a force to reckin with. The music video, which was uploaded 5 months ago, currently has over 19 million views with over 142, 000 likes and 5,500 comments.
